Polling for the Tripura East (ST) Lok Sabha seat began on Saturday amid tight security.
Over 55 per cent voters cast their votes till noon in East Tripura (ST) Lok Sabha constituency, election officials said.
Nine EVMs malfunctioned in the early hours in some polling stations and were replaced immediately.
Voters were seen standing in long queues in urban and rural polling stations of the constituency much before the voting started at 7am.
Voting began an hour and half late at a polling booth at Ambassa, the headquarter of Dhalai district as the EVMs there did not function properly and had to be changed, the sources said.
