Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav filed his nomination for the ongoing General Elections from Azamgarh on Tuesday. The SP supremo will contest the Lok Sabha polls from Azamgarh parliamentary seat along with his traditional Mainpuri seat.
Mulayam's decision to contest from Azamgarh is being viewed as a tactic to counter BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's effect in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh. The Gujarat Chief Minister has announced his candidature from holy city Varanasi.
