Two days after an Ahmedabad court pronounced 32 people guilty for the 2002 post-Godhra Naroda Patiya riots, it will pronounce the quantum of punishment today. Among those convicted are BJP MLA and former minister in the Narendra Modi government Maya Kodnani and Bajrang Dal leader Babu Bajrangi Special court judge Jyotsana Yagnik convicted them on charges of conspiracy and murder in the case, even as 29 other accused were acquitted. The Naroda Patiya verdict is a huge blow to Narendra Modi. And one would expect that with a key aide of his being sentenced, Modi would be silent today.
