As per expectations, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made a spirited pitch for the grant of special status to Bihar. He maintained that Bihar was losing out on the progress the country was making because the Centre had constantly denied the grant of special status to the state. Nitish Kumar has been vociferous in demanding special status for the state since he came to power in 2005. His argument is that the grant of this status will help the state achieve in very short time, the kind of growth it would otherwise take at least 20 years to achieve.
