The local office of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to come up in Varanasi by August 20. The staff will be appointed to look after the day-to-day affairs in the PM's constituency.

"We expect the local office of the PM by August 20," said TS Joshi, city BJP president. Search is on for appropriate building and location of the office. He said that it was not clear who would inaugurate the office, PM himself or someone else. A group of 10-11 staffer will be there to look after the local affairs.

A delegation from Varanasi comprising mayor, BJP MLAs and other office-bearers called on PM in New Delhi on Saturday evening. New BJP president Amit Shah was also present. "It was just a courtesy meeting. Issues related to city's development and Ganga were discussed during the meeting," he said.
