The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday asked party workers not to be “complacent” and have “hunger for victory” with a target for “absolute majority” for the party in the coming Assembly elections in four States — Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Harayana and Maharashtra. While Delhi was not included in the list, the newly elected party president Amit Shah, addressing the National Council, suggested that it will be among the various States going to polls in the next few years.

“In the next five years, there will be polls in States that have had BJP governments in the past…Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya,” said Mr. Shah. “We must strengthen the organisation not just for Vidhan Sabha polls but from the Panchayat level up to the Parliamentary level.”
