The battlelines are drawn as the state of Gujarat gears up for assembly elections. In a surprising move, Congress has announced that suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt's wife Shweta has been given a Congress ticket from Maninagar to take on Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The announcement comes on a day when the Gujarat Chief Minister is scheduled to file his nomination from Maninagar assembly constituency.... The Gujarat chief minister will address a meeting of BJP workers in his constituency and will then proceed to the district collector's office to file his nomination. Today is the last day to file nominations. In the 2007 election, Modi had won Maninagar, which falls in Ahmedabad city, by 75,000 votes defeating Dinsha Patel of Congress.
