The Supreme Court, on Friday, entertained Congress's petition challenging a Delhi high court judgment ordering its and BJP's prosecution for receiving foreign donations. SC has also asked for the response of the Centre and Election Commission in 8 weeks. SC also virtually stayed prosecution of the two national parties by permitting to seek stay of proceedings as and when the process of prosecution commences. Congress said that if donations come from a company registered in a foreign country but its majority stake is held by an Indian, then its contribution cannot be termed as foreign donation to the party.
