There is a big blow for former CWG Organising Committee Chief Suresh Kalmadi, the main accused in the multi-crore Games Scam. A Delhi Court has ordered framing of charges against Kalmadi and 10 others in CWG-related graft case under charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery and the Prevention of Corruption Act. Former CWG Organizing Committee Secretary General Lalit Bhanot is another main accused in the case. The court will formally frame charges on 10th of January 2013. The CBI has filed a chargesheet naming Kalmadi, Lalit Bhanot and nine others for allegedly illegally awarding a contract to install Timing, Scoring and Results systems for the 2010 CWG to Swiss Timing at an inflated rate. This allegedly caused a loss of over Rs 90 crore to the public exchequer.
