The Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA) on Thursday ordered a probe into the suicide of Sankalp Anand, a lecturer at the National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science and his wife Nandini. Sankalp is son of famous Bollywood lyricist Santosh Anand and had joined the institute which comes under the MHA in 2011. Sankalp along with his wife Nandini and daughter Ridhima had jumped in front of a speeding train in Mathura on Wednesday night. While the couple died on the spot, their seven-year-old daughter suffered serious injuries and has been admitted to hospital.

A senior MHA official said a police case has been registered in Mathura but since a 10- page suicide note left by Sankalp in the car has pointed out alleged corruption in the institute as the main reason behind such extreme step, a thorough investigation has been ordered. The official, however, remained tight-lipped on whether the case would be handed over to the CBI.
