Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has ordered an inquiry into the incident. He also announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh each for the relatives of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh each for the injured. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also announced compensation for the families. Apart from announcement of compensation to the injured & to families of the dead, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has condoled loss of lives in Allahabad Railway Station tragedy and has instructed railway ministry to provide all possible assistance. The PM says and I quote: I send my heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved families and wish those injured a speedy recovery. The PM has also directed central govt depts to extend all possible help to Uttar Pradesh govt in relief operations.
