Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee calls in Army to counter protests taking place in Darjeeling by the Gorkhaland Janmukti Morcha against Bengali being made compulsory in the syllabus for all schools across states. The GJM is also protesting against the proposed visit by Mamata Banerjee's visit to the region. In December 2016 last year, Mamata had cried foul and had said Army's operations in Bengal were an coup attempt by the centre against her government.
