After the unceremonious exit of Justice Asok Kumar Ganguly as WBHRC Chairman, the very existence of the human rights watchdog in the state is under question now. Most rights organisations in Bengal now say they do not 'trust' WBHRC anymore.

After Justice Ganguly's exit, the WBHRC is now left with just a single member - former Bengal top cop Naparajit Mukherjee.
