Congress MP Sanjay Nirupam has begun his hunger strike outside Reliance Energy's Mumbai office to demand that electricity prices be reduced in the city. Earlier this week, power tariffs were cut by nearly 20% across the state, except in Mumbai.

Last Monday, hundreds of Congress workers led by MPs Sanjay Nirupam and Priya Dutt protested outside the Kandivali West office of the Anil Ambani-owned power company that provides electricity in their constituencies.
