In an intriguing statement, AICC General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi on Sunday is reported to have said it would have been better for Congress to sit in the Opposition after the 2009 Lok Sabha polls rather than forming a coalition government.

Had the party sat in the Opposition after the last general elections, he argued, Congress would have been in a position to form a government on its own after the 2014 polls.
