The veritable storm, which erupted in Shiv Sena days after its bête noire, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), decided to support the BJP in the state without joining the NDA or the saffron Grand Alliance, does not seem to have died down.

Launching a scathing attack at the BJP ahead of crucial General Elections, Shiv Sena said that there is a crisis of confidence.

In an editorial in Shiv Sena's mouthpiece 'Saamana', party's chief Uddhav Thackeray said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has angered its allies. There are no saints left in politics these days and every one is an opportunist. Instead of attacking its enemies, the BJP was hurting itself, wrote Uddhav.



If Narendra Modi is to become the prime minister, allies need to be won over, added Uddhav.

The editorial also added that Shiv Sena will not compromise on the issue of Hindutva and is capable of fighting its own battle.

"Leaders like Modi, Rajnath and Rudy may have applied balm on the strain in BJP-Shiv Sena ties, but what is the guarantee that there will be strain in the future. If Pramod Mahajan were alive the strain would be have been less. BJP is a national party, thanks to the many regional allies it has. Even tall leaders like Vajpayee and Advani had to take along a number of allies - almost 30 to form the NDA government. BJP appears to be doing deals with new parties while keeping existing allies in the dark," it says.
