Lankan website now carries an apology for article

The Sri Lankan Defense Ministry on Friday offered an “unqualified apology” for publishing in its website, an article by a Lankan freelance journalist Shenali D Waduge, in which she had used unparliamentary language and had carried insinuations in regard to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa.
After Indian High Commissioner Y.K.Sinha took up the matter with the Lankan Foreign Secretary Kshenuka Senewiratne, the Defense Ministry took the article off its website and published an “unqualified apology”.
The apology published in the Defense Ministry website said: “ An article titled ‘How Meaningful are Jayalalitha’s Love Letters to Narendra Modi?’ had appeared on our website along with a graphical portrayal of Hon.Prime Minister of India and Hon.Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.”
