Four children were on Thursday killed and eight others injured when a school van was hit by a Varanasi-bound passenger train at an unmanned railway crossing in Mau district.
The incident took place at around 8 a.m. when the van carrying schoolchildren was hit by Tamsa passenger train going to Varanasi from Azamgarh at Mahaso unmanned crossing in Ranipur area in Mau.
Superintendent of Police A.K. Shukla said that five children were killed on the spot while eight others were injured in the incident.
