After days of relentless reporting by the NewsX, the govt has finally decided to intervene in the case of MPs overstaying at the Ashoka Hotel. The MPs have been asked to explain the reasons for overstaying at the 5-star hotel. Not only did these legislators flouted SC norms but also misused the tax payers money. If we take a look at the numbers, the basic home rent allowance availed by an MP is only 35000 rupees. But instead they choose to burden the exchequer by staying in 5 star facilities running up huge bills that is almost 8000 per night. Their extravagance and your hard earned money. On being quizzed, what they offered was nothing but excuses.
