A partially burnt body of a 50-year-old woman has been found from her husband’s funeral pyre in a village in Latur district, giving rise to suspicion Sati, a banned practice in India, was performed. Police have however denied the possibility of it being a case Sati. The incident took place in Latur district in Marathwada region of Maharashtra, when family members went to collect the ashes of one Tukaram Mane, who had passed away of a cardiac arrest on Monday.
