Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday met Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who is facing allegations of impropriety and conflict of interest in the Lalit Modi controversy with her party, the BJP, defending her and the opposition Congress gunning for her immediate removal. The meeting took place at Raje's official residence in Jaipur, where Gadkari is scheduled to attend another event. On Sunday, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who is on a nine-day visit to the US, chose to largely stay mum on the controversy but said the tainted former Indian Premier League (IPL) chief's Rs 11 crore transaction with Raje's son and BJP leader Dushyant Singh was a "commercial" one. "I do not want to comment on him (Modi), but it's a commercial transaction between two individuals," Jaitley said.
