In a time tested manner to appeal to the Tamil Nadu voters, newly appointed chief minister E Palaniswami has written a letter to Prime Minister Modi about the construction of the Mekedatu reservoir on the Cauvery River. The Tamil Nadu chief minister has reportedly expressed fears that Karnataka might go ahead with the 5900 crore project, which involves building a reservoir with a capacity of 66 tmc. In the letter, Palanisami has expressed serious concerns over Karnataka approaching the central water commission and the supervisory committee of the supreme court to get clearances to proceed with its Mekedatu project.
