Despite a baleful outburst by a top of right wing outfit Ram Sene, the government still seems to be contemplating whether or not to bring the guilty to book. Sene member Siddalinga Swami warned the likes of free thinkers like Bhagwan and Chandrashekhar Patil. The convenor of the Ram Sene said that Sene will cut off the tongues of writers for insulting Hindu Gods. The warning has sent chills down the spines of the intelligentsia. But so far the group has escaped action because politicians find just about any pretext to let it off the hook. The UPA sat on a report demanding a ban on the Sene citing lack of proof. The Maharashtra government is similarly evasive awaiting proof.
