Ye Mere Watan Ke Logon : Voice over by SHREYA DEBNATH
This Song has been sung by the pride of our Nation; Lata Mangeshkar ji on the aftermath of Indo - China war where many of our brave soldiers made supreme sacrifice while fighting the enemy on the line of duty.
I think the time has come again to recite and recreate this legendary song again in the prevailing situation
A soldier’s sacrifice is immeasurable and profound. Thousands of armed forces personnel have laid down their lives to protect their motherland. Hundreds, still continue to sacrifice their lives even today. The soldiers and officers have valiantly fought, and continue to fight tooth and nail to protect this great nation known as India. We are able to sleep peacefully at night only because our soldiers are awake at the borders, fighting for our country, come rain, hail, or sunshine. They have to live and fight in extremely hot, as well as below freezing point temperatures. They stay up at a stretch for days together, only to keep strict vigilance because, one mistake of a soldier can cost the nation heavily. They endure all this and more, without a word of complaint. We, as a nation, owe our freedom to the Indian Armed Forces, who have gone over and beyond their call of duty.
A soldier doesn’t just sacrifice his life for his country. He sacrifices his whole existence, his world. A soldier sacrifices his time with his family. A soldier does not know how much time he has left. In fact, once he enrolls in the force, his time is not his own. So time, automatically becomes precious. Yet, he cannot give enough time to his family. In war time, he does not get to see his family for months, or maybe even years together. He cannot spend time with his ailing parents, or have a quiet evening with his wife, or play with his children. When he comes home for a few days or weeks, every moment with his family becomes special and invaluable. Every day is treasured. He then goes back, not knowing if he will ever see them again. He leaves his family with tears, a heavy heart and, only those cherished memories.
It’s only in times of war, or when there is an epic tragedy, that people wake up to respect those who protect them. When we are faced with a national catastrophe or a widespread destruction, that’s when we turn to the Armed Forces for help and rescue.
