Amid the emergency fine dust measures, the PM has called on local governments and institutions to do more to respond to the issue.
Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon during a weekly Cabinet meeting on Tuesday urged all local governments and institutions to check how they are responding to the serious issue of fine dust.
He said air pollution is not just a problem for the environment ministry, but for everyone and called for an all-out response to the issue from other ministries, asking the education minister to check the students at schools, and the labor and transport ministers to look around construction sites.
Quoting the environment ministry, PM Lee said the ultra fine dust hovers around longer due to the stagnant atmosphere and the inflow of fine dust from China.
