President Trump on Monday blasted Rep. Ilhan Omar.
President Trump on Monday took to Twitter and slammed Rep. Ilhan Omar for her latest remarks about Israel.
"Representative Ilhan Omar is again under fire for her terrible comments concerning Israel," Trump wrote. "Jewish groups have just sent a petition to Speaker Pelosi asking her to remove Omar from Foreign Relations Committee. A dark day for Israel!"
His tweet came after the Democratic freshman from Minnesota said at an event last week: "I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is OK to push for allegiance to a foreign country."
In the wake of her comments "that senior members of the [Democratic] party and Jewish groups say play on anti-Semitic tropes," NPR reports that House Democrats are expected to vote this week on a resolution condemning anti-Semitism.
Omar, who has made controversial comments about Israel in the past as well, continues to defend herself on Twitter.
"I am told everyday that I am anti-American if I am not pro-Israel. I find that to be problematic and I am not alone," she wrote in a recent tweet. "I just happen to be willing to speak up on it and open myself to attacks."
