Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today brushed aside the new political alliance between Umno and PAS with his trademark sarcasm.
He said while Malaysian law forbids same-sex marriages, there are no such restrictions on political marriages.
"If they want to unite, they can unite. If they want to get married, go ahead and get married. We are a free country... (Except for a man) to get married to a man, you can't do that here.
"They want to get married (with each other), it is okay," he told reporters in Parliament today.
Last Tuesday, Umno and PAS formalised their cooperation which had proven to be effective in the past two by-elections in Cameron Highlands and Semenyih.
