Snow piles reach from the ground to the roofs of the houses they surround in Newfoundland, where entrances have to be dug out regularly to halt the accumulation of the snow piles.

Several feet of snow accumulated over a two day period south of Gros Morne National Park, before the footage was shot February 28.

Snow levels are a danger to the roofs of the houses, with the weight of snow able to cause roofs to collapse.
