Dirk Nowitzki Moves Up
NBA's All-Time Scoring List In passing Wilt Chamberlain, the longtime Mavericks superstar now ranks sixth. Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle,
via 'ESPN' Nowitzki will retire at the end of
this current season. The seven-foot German native was
drafted ninth overall by the
Mavericks in 1998. He went on to lead them to
15 playoff appearances and
an NBA title win in 2011. The future Hall of Famer also won the MVP award in 2007 and is a
14-time All-Star. Nowitzki is credited with being the first frontcourt player to also be a perimeter threat. His currently ranks 11th on the NBA's all-time three-point list.
