Korea took home 120 medals and ribbons at the 2019 Abu Dhabi Special Olympics this March.
The Korean team earned 44 golds, 25 silvers, and 28 bronze medals.
The Special Olympics aims to encourage and develop the potential of disabled athletes, and those athletes who didn’t win a medal can still appear on the podium. Athletes who finish in the fourth to eighth places receive a ribbon instead of a medal. Because the event prioritizes coexistence rather than competition, the country ranking is not announced.
