Nancy Pelosi held her weekly press briefing Thursday.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi weighed in on President Trump's claim that wind turbines cause cancer. During Thursday's press briefing, she mentioned Trump's suggestion and commented: "I associate myself with the remarks of Chairman Grassley. It's an idiotic statement." Notably, Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, a long-time supporter of wind energy, told reporters on Wednesday that Trump's words on the matter "were first of all idiotic" and went on to suggest that the president stop criticizing wind power. Trump made the statement in question at a Tuesday fundraising event, referring to wind turbines as "windmills" and asserting that "they say the noise causes cancer." CNN notes: "Scientific studies have not identified any human health risk from wind turbines."
