Opposition parties have told the SC that even if the Lok Sabha results get delayed for counting VVPAT slips of 50% EVMs in all constituencies, it should be done. The 21 opposition parties led by TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu have demanded that more VVPATs be matched in order to ensure the elections are free and fair. At present, one randomly selected EVM is matched in every assembly segment of the country. However, the opposition parties have said that the sample size is too small and the rest of the VVPATs become redundant. The delay calculated for matching 50% EVMs will be 5.2 days with the current manpower, according to the election commission. The matter is in the Supreme Court.
