Two U.S. lawmakers have sent a letter to President Donald Trump... asking for his support to facilitate inter-Korean projects.
Democrats -- Ro Khanna of California and Andy Kim of New Jersey -- sent the letter ahead of the recent South Korea-U.S. summit.
The lawmakers said they support Trump's efforts to find a peaceful solution despite the breakdown in the Hanoi summit,... adding there are steps the U.S. could take to back Seoul's diplomatic efforts,... such as cross-border projects.
They pointed out concerns that the U.S. administration reportedly took steps to block South Korea... from engaging in any economic cooperation with the North.
The lawmakers called on Trump to consider reviewing this approach,... saying it would also benefit Washington's security interests,... with the ultimate goal of resolving the nuclear crisis and establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula.
