Trade talks between the U.S. and Japan are expected to begin in Washington on Monday local time.
Japanese news outlets are reporting that the upcoming meeting will focus on setting the scope and target of negotiations.
U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer will lead the talks with Japan's Economic Revitalization Minister Toshimitsu Motegi.
Japan is expected to push for talks focused on trade in goods...whereas the U.S. is hoping for a more comprehensive discussion.
