The Papanicolaou staining method, modified according to Boon, takes about 25 minutes to be carried out. It is the most adaptable staining method for cytological tests whereof samples are collected both by desquamation and aspiration in terms of quality-consumed time ration. Nevertheless hemacolor is the quickest staining method, because it enables the pathologist to analyse the smear within only one minute’s time.
The fine needle aspiration samples (breast, thyroid, soft tissues, lymph glands etc.), the blood and bone marrow smears and even the desquamation collected samples from the uterine cervix can undergo such staining method. This multimedia tutorial shows the technique of the hemacolor staining method.
