A Spotted Owlet draws in one leg into its fur, and stands on a single leg! A Rose-breasted Parakeet feeding its chicks. A Crested Hawk eagle sits on the forest floor, perched atop its kill of a smaller bird.

Baya Weaver Birds take off in one go, from their perch on a bush in the Dhikala chaur grassland. Meanwhile, a make Kalij Pheasant struts its stuff, its feathers all glistening and catching the odd ray of sunlight, on the dry leaves of the forest floor. A Black Partridge scuttles off into the grassland.

Meanwhile, a pair of Pallas' Fishing Eagles sit on the banks of the Ramganga river, one of them craning its neck upwards and outwards! Finally, a rare sight of a flock of King Vultures fighting over their kill on the grassland chaur.

Owls are a group of birds that belong to the order Strigiformes, constituting 200 extant bird of prey species. Most are solitary and nocturnal, with some exceptions (e.g., the Northern Hawk Owl). Owls hunt mostly small mammals, insects, and other birds, although a few species specialize in hunting fish. They are found in all regions of the Earth except Antarctica, most of Greenland and some remote islands.

Parakeet is a term for any one of a large number of unrelated small to medium sized species of parrot, that generally have long tail feathers. Older spellings still sometimes encountered are paroquet or paraquet.

The Kalij Pheasant, Lophura leucomelanos, is a pheasant found in forests and thickets, especially in the Himalayan foothills, from Nepal to western Thailand. Males are rather variable depending on the subspecies involved, but all have an at least partially glossy bluish-black plumage, while females are overall brownish.
