Afford Enough Food A new study of food banks says that every one of the over 3,100 counties in the U.S. has hunger issues. The study was conducted by
non-profit Feeding America,
the third largest charity in the U.S. According to researchers, those affected
cannot afford $43 monthly for enough items. In areas like Jefferson County, Mississippi,
over 36% of people have this issue. Feeding America adds that 97% of U.S. counties have people that are
ineligible for food stamps. In total, 40 million Americans are unable to purchase healthy products. This includes
12.5 million kids. During the last U.S. recession
