"Before the Next Teardrop Falls" was written by Vivian Keith and Ben Peters in the late 1960s. The song achieved moderate success, however it's most famous recording was by Freddy Fender in 1975. Fender's version went straight to #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Chart, and not long after, it hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
