Chuck Schumer slammed President Trump on Friday.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Friday slammed President Trump over his recent phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
When a reporter asked Trump on Friday if he told Putin not to meddle in the 2020 U.S. elections, Trump replied: "We didn't discuss that. Really, we didn't discuss it."
However, Trump said they did discuss Russia's efforts to interfere in the 2016 elections as outlined in the Mueller report.
"[Putin] actually sort of smiled when he said something to the effect that it started off as a mountain and it ended up being a mouse," Trump said. "But he knew that because he knew there was no collusion whatsoever."
Schumer reacted to Trump's remarks in a tweet.
"President @realDonaldTrump spent an hour on the phone with Putin," Schumer wrote. "Instead of pressing Putin on the #MuellerReport's extensive evidence that Russia hacked our elections, they gossiped about Fox News conspiracy theories?"
"Trump's priorities are appalling and undermine democracy," Schumer added.
