Reuters Journalists Jailed
in Myanmar Are Released Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo
had been jailed for more than
500 days under Myanmar's
Official Secrets Act. They had been reporting
on a massacre of Rohingya civilians. Earlier this year, they
received the Pulitzer Prize
for International Reporting. 'Time' magazine had included the journalist among its 2018 Persons of the Year, honoring journalists who had been jailed or killed. Wa Lone, Reuters Journalist, via CNN Reuters Editor-in-Chief Stephen Adler called the men "symbols of the importance of press freedom around the world." Both men have been
reunited with their
families in Yangon.
