the AU review recently joined Tessa and Brendon of folk duo, Microwave Jenny for an interview in Surry Hills. The interview started on a dangerous note for a pregnant Tessa, “Don’t make me laugh, I’ll wet my pants!” and the pair explained how they found inspiration from JK Rowling in naming their latest work, Microwave Jenny and the Six Song EP, now available on iTunes, “We couldn’t think of a title and I love Harry Potter, so we thought ‘why not just go with how Harry Potter titles their books?’”
Next the duo talked recording their new sound in London: “[The songs] were just ideas on the acoustic guitar and melodies recorded into the phone. Once we were in London we were introduced to a whole bunch of other things that kind of sent those ideas into a crazy different direction.”
The band told us a little about their tour with Sheppard, “It was so good we didn’t want it to end!" and let us in on what we can expect on their next Australian tour, spanning from, “Adelaide, Perth and everything in between” starting April 10: “It’s a new sound but the same sort of vibe. it sounds like Microwave Jenny just fuller. A lot more mature, a lot more up beat.” Check out the full interview below and catch the band on tour this month!
