South Korea's Agriculture Ministry held an emergency meeting on Friday morning over the first reported case of African swine fever in North Korea.
The ministry confirmed the case on Thursday, after North Korean authorities confirmed the outbreak on May 25th.
The ministry says more than 20 pigs were culled after more than 70 pigs died from the virus at a farm in North Korea's Jagang-do Province, near the border with China.
South Korea's Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon is demanding related officials stop the virus entering the South.
He also asked them to cooperate with their counterparts in North Korea on the matter.
