Drinking Bottled Water Doubles Your Microplastic Intake Plastic pollution has become so endemic that it's now affecting
our bodies. Americans are eating, drinking and breathing between 74,000 and 121,000 microplastic particles
every year. According to a study by Environmental Science & Technology, people who drink bottled water can ingest an extra 90,000 plastic particles. Some of these particles are small enough to enter bodily tissues and trigger an immune reaction. They may even release pollutants from the environment into
our bodies. The full effect of this on human health is not yet known. Study authors, via CNN
