Pride Month History:
New Jersey Schools Required to Teach LGBTQ History New Jersey became the second state in
the country to require LGBTQ inclusion
in public school teachings on January 31. California was the first state with the
passage of the FAIR Education Act in 2011. Under this law, public schools must include
lessons about political, economic and social
contributions of LGBTQ individuals. It will also require public schools to teach about
contributions made by people who are disabled. These changes will take effect
in the 2020-2021 school year. Christian Fuscarino, executive director of
Garden State Equality, believes the law is an
important step forward for youth in the state. Christian Fuscarino,
