Melissa McCarthy May Play Ursula in ‘Little Mermaid'
Live-Action Remake Life's full of tough choices, and it appears
Megan McCarthy is close to a major decision. McCarthy is in discussions to play the villain in
Disney's live-action version of 'The Little Mermaid,' according to 'Variety.' Rob Marshall, from 'Mary Poppins Returns,' will direct the film. Marshall, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Marc Platt
and John DeLuca are producing the movie. The film will include original songs from the 1989
animated classic along with some new music. Alan Menken will return alongside Miranda
to write the music for the remake. Menken wrote the original music, including
the Oscar-winning “Under the Sea,”
“Part of Your World” and “Kiss the Girl.” Disney's latest live-action remake of 'Aladdin'
has grossed $820 million worldwide. The live-action adaptation of 'The Lion King'
hits theaters on July 19.
