A powerful tornado ripped through China's Kaiyuan city, flipping over the cars.

The dramatic video, filmed at 17:00 today (July 3), shows a large twister swirling rubbish into the air, blowing down trees and flipping over cars.

Reports said, glass windows in residents' houses, vehicles, portacabins and light poles were damaged and some areas also had power cuts.

The tornado lasted for several minutes before passing.
