In 2018 UN Human Rights Council's (UNHRC) released a report on Human Rights Violation Kashmir, reacting strongly to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein reiterating the need for international access to Kashmir "on both sides of the Line of Control" to investigate allegations of human rights violations. The Ministry of External Affairs, India responded to the UNHRC first report on alleged human rights violations in the region, saying it legitimizes terror activities in Kashmir and also criticized the body for referring to terror organizations as "armed groups" and terrorists as "leaders". Reacting angrily India has informed the United Nations body that it will no longer entertain any communication with the HRC’s Special Rapporteurs on its report.
