President Trump's new point-man for the East Asia and Pacific region will be in South Korea from today through Thursday.
David Stilwell will meet with senior officials from Seoul's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the presidential office to discuss ways to further strengthen the alliance and to enhance cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
Stilwell was asked about possible American intervention in the trade dispute between Seoul and Tokyo during an interview last weekend with Japanese broadcaster NHK.
Stilwell said he encourages both sides to talk and find a positive way out of the situation.
