The World Health Organization has declared the Ebola crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo a "public health emergency of international concern."
Wednesday's declaration comes as almost seventeen-hundred people have died since the outbreak was reported 11 months ago.
Since then, a campaign of vigilance and vaccination had kept the virus confined within two provinces in northeastern Congo.
But on Wednesday, the WHO reported a fisherwoman had died in Congo after four vomiting incidents at a market in Uganda.
The WHO said the designation is aimed at accelerating production of the vaccine,... which is in short supply.
