Put Your Privacy at Risk? An app called FaceApp has
gone viral, with many people
using the app to age themselves. More than 100 million people have
downloaded the app so far, making it
the top-ranked app in 121 countries. The app uses artificial intelligence
to transform users' uploaded photos
into different ages and genders. However, various privacy advocates have
found the app’s privacy policy to be concerning. Photos used in FaceApp are reportedly
uploaded and processed in the cloud, granting the company a never-ending license to use them. via FaceApp
Terms of Service When asked by
‘The Washington Post’
what this meant,
FaceApp CEO Yaroslav
Goncharov attempted
to ease concerns. Goncharov revealed that although
the app is granted a “perpetual”
license of photos, most are deleted
from its servers after 48 hours. He also said that FaceApp doesn't download
a user’s entire camera roll, only the photos
“selected by a user for editing.”
